Happy New Year

Report Date: January 3, 2009

I got out this morning at 6:30 am. It was half an hour before daylight but I wanted to be sitting in a certain spot with the powerpole down at first light. The water had just turned and started coming back in from a normal ebb. Just as I anticipated the fish were in thus little cove with no where to go. I was in about 10 inches of water and watching an acre of fish push back and forth just out of casting range. I forgot my push pole so I couldnt really place my boat in a better position. I noticed a Ranger Ghost poling down towards me so I just waited hoping they would spook them to me. It worked only because the other boat turned and fired up there big motor to leave. When they did that all the fish came in front of me and stayed. I sat in one spot and caught well over 50 fish. It was a mixed school of 15" to 30" fish. I caught every fish on a Wavefishing Jerk Shad in Electric Chicken color. I kept two just under the 23" slot for lunch.

Kaitlyn with a perfect slot

I just signed on with Okuma for the 2009 season and I have to say the Salina 30 Reels on Guide Select 7'6" MH Rods are awesome. The drag is smooth and you can feel every thing on the bottom..
